Recognition Day!!!!

Deciding to write or not to write about the Recognition day... So Here it is.  I've decided tooooo.... And I feel a little better. How it came about... My friend that I worked with and grew to love as if he was my family was so distinguished.  This man was a well know author. Having been through the military himself, being a owner of a Newspaper and becoming an author after retiring doing what he loved. He and his wife picked the town of Cleveland Tn. To lay down their final roots in.

We met in the most unusual way. I was a receptionist/clerk at the job that I'm at now. I knew who this man was, due to my dad being in the military and having done a little research for my dad. And also about that time my friend having had his book being turned into a Best Selling Movie.  He walked in to visit one of the ladies that was helping him to promote the beginning of the premier that was to become a part of our towns history. She was the mayor wife.

As I contacted his acquaintance that he was to meet we began to chat and I mentioned that I admired him for writing about his experiences and having them published for our future children and their children and mentioned my dad, as well as him being a Korean War Veteran. In those few minutes that we spoke before his acquaintance arrived, I just didn't know it but this had began our friendship.  He would continue to come in on occasion. Then I moved into a different position in a different building and lost contact with him for about 8 months.

One day while I was making a trip over to the building he was sitting in the lobby waiting on his friend.  I stopped and spoke with him and gave him a hug.  He was so tickled to see me as I was to see him. That afternoon, while I was checking my mailbox at work. There was a card, when I opened it up. It read " It was so good to see you today, I have missed your smiling face at the front desk, I'll keep in touch."  Well now that just brightened my day.

A week or 2 went by and I hadn't heard from him and I was  helping on a service project here in town Tunes for the troops we were at the post office to help unload the boxes for shipping. While unloading I saw the Red Cadillac that he drove pull up to drop off mail.  I excused myself from the unloading process for a moment to jump down and stop my friend and speak to him giving him a hug.  He was thrilled to see me and ask about what I was doing. And I explained.  Well now he says.  I knew there was something special that we had in common besides your dad's military experience.  We chatted a moment, and I got back to work finishing the other crew with the unloading process.

On the following Monday, there was another letter in my mailbox. Saying how good it was to see me and that I had made his day, to stop what I was doing just to say hi. That day forward he began to send me notes asking for a little help in some research that he was doing, he didn't tell me what he was doing. And I have always been one to not pry.   Then one day he asked, I could really use some help with some typesetting on a project.  At the time, I didn't even know what typesetting was... I know now.  The rest to come......

Checking on when his birthday was,  he told me he no longer has birthdays, he has recognition days.... It took me running into one of his friends at the post office one day to find out when his recognition day was.  And it was only a few days away... so I came home and made him a homemade birthday card, with the cover on it being one of his books, I preceded to write a message on the inside of why this was such a special day. I stamped it with a doggy print and a birthday message, that read:

To my special friend William B. Breuer, In Recognition of your special day...

Love always your friend
Mona Lisa

Rest in peace my friend, I love and miss you....He was the author of 41 published books, And the block buster seller "The Great Raid"....

HowDeeeee!!!!!

HowDeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who was it that used to say that???? Minnie Pearl perhaps???? I just loved watching that little lady....

Well I'm checking in to see how everyone has been getting along.  I'm loving that the weather is beginning to cool down. And I can start getting out and enjoying the outside more. Love to walk when its cooler outside and enjoy the scenery.  Well I started the 5 day pouch test again, as you know I have done this before with success of getting back on track with my eating habits. I'm now into day 3 and doing good. I started on my soft foods today, tuesday evening, I made the creamy turkey soup and WOW I was amazed at the taste.

My husband has been doing most of the cooking the last 2-3 years due to him getting off at 1:00pm and I don't get off til 5:00pm. Of course he goes into work at 4am. Works out pretty good for me. I've enjoyed it. Down fall is he knows that I can't eat just anything and he will cook 2 meals most of the time.  He tries to make sure I get in my meals. He also eats when he gets it cooked, and then eats again when I arrive.  So I told him sunday we are going to change it up a bit.

After getting off  I've came in and cooked meals that were low in carbs/sugars. And healthier than he is used to eating.  When I made the turkey soup last night, he was shocked as well as myself that something that tasted that good was good for you.... I showed him the breakdown of calories, carbs, etc.  So instead of the usual salads that I send him everyday for lunch when I pack our lunches, I fixed him soup. He told me today that one of his co-workers wanted to know what he was eating today, because it smelled so good.

This evening, I made tuna salad and cut up a tomato and topped it with the tuna. Since I have a hard time eating fish, I've been trying to get up the courage to try the tuna again. I ate about 2 Tbs and that was it for me.  So that means 1 of 2 things. My pouch is tightening up or I just couldn't do anymore of the tuna.  I think it was both.. Which is good. That means my tool that the Dr. provided me is still in place and working like it should be. I just need to control it. I am on a mission to do just that. Today I managed to drink 16 oz of water,  8oz of juice, 8oz of hot/sour soup, 8 oz of cream of turkey soup. 4 egg whites, and of course the tuna, (gulp)....

After we finished our supper, my husband put a roast on in the pressure cooker for Italian Roast beef, so he will be able to eat it tomorrow since Thursdays are usually a long day for me. Then I will just heat up some cream of turkey soup or a pc of chicken, and may even make me a protein shake. That should tide me over.   Friday I will introduce my pouch to a more normal meal. And begin to control myself. And that being day 5. That's an accomplishment.... Yeah, that will mean I am in deed back on track, and I need to stop grazing.....

I'll get off of here for now.  But as for my mission that I started while I was on vacation I completed everything except defrosting my freezer and I'll have to make that a priority before long. As hunting season is right around the corner and the hubby is packing already for his upcoming trip at the end of the month.... So I anticipate venison coming soon. So 1 of the 2 freezers has to be cleaned and room made for it.

Til another day....
Tah Tah for Now.

Progress in the making....

Sunday evening.

Kicking up my feet and watching Madea's Big Happy Family... Enjoying the afternoon in a quiet atmosphere. Wow, Tyler Perry is very talented. I just love his movies. So far I haven't been disappointed. And this one is hilarious.

Chilling should mean I've completed my missions. Well not all of them, they are still progress in the making, but I did make a dent in them. Does that count? I think so considering the results, and I do see some. Made a few changes to my check off list. Managed to make a quick road trip to the cloth store in Huntsville, Al.  I wanted to go further but I really wasn't feeling like that length of a trip. So I'm going to plan it again some time soon.

I picked up the material and lace that I wanted and the ladies there at the store were so helpful. One Lady even found me a pattern to go with the project that I'm going to be making. I was tickled. I can't wait to get started.  I think the dining room table is going to become my work space for a little while. I'll lay out the material first cut it and then do the pinning there. Then set the sewing machine up and go from there. I think this will work out for the best.  I picked up lavender, pale yellow, red, light pink, and turquoise material.

Now learning how to sew it will be a challenge, I haven't ever sewn that type of material before. When I had the machine serviced they set it up to sew the type of material that I would be sewing on it for me.  That's a good thing, as I haven't ever messed with the tension, or different stitches other than straight or zigzag.  Have I told you that I have been really lazy this week in some ways and other ways accomplished some of my tasks.  Here is my list that has been revised again.  Tomorrow, I think I'm going to take care of the biggest challenge on my list, "the freezer"....

  • cleaning house-yuck... this is the worst, so I'm starting with it 1st and doing a room at a time  **** 3 rooms down****  2 rooms down***  1 to go
  • cleaning out my coupons-organizing them
  • organizing my stock pile to see what is running low so that I can make a list of what needs to be restocked
  • Listening to music to motivate me to move more.... How many do this one?
  • Updating my blog so that I can perhaps motivate some of my friends to kick it up with me
  • Making lists to start checking off so that I can start using my time more wisely, if its on paper I'm thinking it might help me get more things accomplished.  "so I read in some time management material"  ***** partially completed*****
  • Then there is dragging the sewing machine out of storage..getting rid of the dust bunnies and preparing it for travel... Trip got cancelled.... *i'm just sayin**
  • Yes later this week I'm planning a road trip "by myself" so you see I have to get to kickin it up....
  • Took machine to the sewing machine shop to be serviced. Picked up needles, and found out that one of the sewing machines is missing a cord and operating foot....What???? Then I find out that I have a serger "woo hoo"  this could be dangerous.  Now to get on with sewing my secret mission for Etsy ... this to come.. I'm so excited about this one. I really think this will be a good thing. I'll post once this one is further into getting completed for you to see....
  • Laundry **** down to 2 loads****This could have been completed, I've just been taking my time...cause I can...
  • Defrosting the freezer...So that I can have more room for frozen deals... any good suggestions on keeping a freezer from frosting up so fast.. One good suggestion I have for others is when purchasing a freezer, MAKE SURE ITS FROST FREE ....
  • Walking... Walking.... Walking...***I'm working on completing this mission**
  • download some new motivating music on my mp3 player--What do you listen too?  I would love some new suggestions on this. Or perhaps a website to visit that gives a breakdown on motivational music***** some are downloaded, just need to be transferred over to my mp3 player****
  •  Then there is updating my next segment on our Gastric bypass series *** a work in progress***
  • Picking up coupon deals, My family is now stocked up on dishwashing detergent, Laundry detergent, Deodorant, body wash, paper towels, toilet paper. I'm pretty well stocked on my cooking staples, frozen veggies are beginning to get low, so its about time for them to go on sale again. so I've got to make room to see what I need to pick up.
I'll go for now, Spend time with your family tomorrow, Grill out and enjoy your day off.
Tah Tah for now.
Love Always, Lisa

Is it Friday already?????

Wow, where does the time go when you are off?  What makes time go soooo slow when you are workng and sooo fast when you are enjoying time off?? What is the theory??? I just don't get it and I should after uhHmmm... several years.... I've managed to get several items marked off my to do list,  but I also added some.

So I could say I'm actually taking 2 steps forward 1 step back, My creative adrenaline is flowing.... Finally after a period of grieving time, It's time to get off the rocker and back into the studio.... so to speak.... And with the holidays quickly approaching... I can't wait to find something to make.... I love the new website that I have found Pinterest, They have a lot of crafty people there. You can click on the request invite.
